On Saturday, March 22nd Beth, Josh and I had a family day in the newly formed fishing area formed between Sand/Pelican Island and the Fishing Pier. We had a blast! In 4 hours we caught 12 white trout with many other bites. Others caught mullet and flounder. It was sad not to be able to fish from the Pier. I have fished from the Pier since I was 11 (26 years..... god I feel old) and I have taken Josh since he was in a stroller. Though the pier is not what it once was, it will be back. Anybody who has watched the "Sands of Time" move on this Island know that the current situation can and will change. We had enough fun that it will be our main fishing spot this summer. Until then the Park and Beach Board has moved its resources to supporting the public beach and pier area. There is still great fishing, swimming and nature watching to be had. The Cedar Point Pier is still open if you still want to be a "pier pounder". Here are the pictures we took Saturday.
